WSS: West, Stiggy back on podium

Anthony West wasn't too disheartened to miss out on a first World Supersport win with the Stiggy Honda team despite losing out to Fabien Foret on the final corner at Brno.

Having dropped off the battle for second in the early stages when he got caught by Eugene Laverty, West put on a fine performance to catch up with what was now the lead group with only three laps remaining.

Rising to third as they entered the final lap, West dived past Joan Lascorz and Foret in one corner to assume the lead on the long run to the final corner chicane. However, West was powerless to resist a determined effort by Foret to snatch the win away from him, leaving him second.

Nonetheless, despite being denied so close to the chequered flag, the result ends a disappointing run of form for the Stiggy team, with West praising their efforts in getting back on the podium for the first time since Valencia.

“I am really happy with my race today,” he said. “I am very pleased that I have been able to reward the hard work the team has put in over the last couple of weeks. It is a great thing for the whole team to have a result like this and it will certainly lift the spirits.

“It was good to be up front again and brought the joy back in my riding. I am looking forward to our break now and want to come back stronger for the next couple of races. I want to do well and finish the year off with some good results."
