Imola to honour Bayliss

Troy Bayliss is to receive a lifetime achievement award from the city of Imola when the World Superbike Championship returns to the Italian circuit next month.

The Australian, who retired at the end of the 2008 season, will make an appearance at the Autodromo Enzo & Dino Ferrari for the first time since 2006 when Imola last hosted a World Superbike round.

Receiving the award in Imola's main square at a show ahead of the weekend, the event is being organised by city authorities and Formula Imola, with further collaboration from Italian manufacturer Ducati.

A video documenting the exploits of the Australian rider will also be shown, including the 2006 title he clinched at Imola.
