WSS: Crutchlow gets closer to crown

Cal Crutchlow remains on course for the 2009 World Supersport title after decimating the opposition during the latest round at the Nurburgring.

Crutchlow was fastest in each practice session and qualifying by a considerable margin, a dominance he continued to exert in the races as he crossed the line a ten second winner over Eugene Laverty.

Beyond Laverty and third place Joan Lascorz, Crutchlow's advantage was even clearer, the Yamaha rider even finishing more than half a minute ahead of Massimo Roccoli in fourth position.

Adding five points to his margin over Laverty, putting him 22 points ahead with three races remaining, Crutchlow was delighted with his resounding performance.

"It was really good for me to come here to the Nurburgring, my team's home circuit and win and prove I've still got the pace after Brno. We beat the field very well there and came here and did the same thing. It's been a great weekend, the team have been brilliant and given me the bike to win on. I want to dedicate the win to my Aunt Rose."

Cal you have been such a great surprise to me! From the beginning of the season I doubted whether you can be a serious title contender. But now I think you are the best out there. It is a pity that you had to give up those 25 point at Brno. I think you are almost certain new supersport world champ! KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED :)

Awesome ride Cal....again! 19 lap race and he did 17 under the lap record...that only takes out the 1st lap and the one where he had a wee moment onto the start/finish straight. Practice was funny, so many riders trying to tag on the back of him he had to keep sitting up and making them go past, but still did a lap about 1.5 secs under the lap record just before the end. With the right career choices his trajectory is stellar, and I for one thought he'd got the bum deal out of the Brits moving up as he'd not got into WSB..how wrong can you be!
