Broc Parkes posted his first top ten finish since the Monza round of the World Superbike Championship at Imola, despite admitting to suffering problems with set-up throughout the weekend.

Having arrived in Italy confident of a good result, Parkes found himself towards the bottom end of the top twenty during free practice and qualifying, the Aussie declaring the Imola circuit as not suiting the Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Nonetheless, Parkes made good progress during the opening race, picking up on several retirements to cross the line just behind Yamaha rider Tom Sykes in tenth place, his best finish in four months.

A single point for 15th place followed in race two, but while that result signalled his second-best points haul all year, Parkes was still looking for a big step in France.

"We failed to find a good set-up here at Imola, even at the test we struggled as the circuit doesn't seem to suit our bike.

"It's a very windy track and we had some difficulty in changing direction which created some problems for us on this track. Qualifying wasn't so good as I had some pretty bad chatter but I was glad to finish both races.

"Now we move onto Magny-Cours next weekend and we need to make some big steps up again so we'll be looking at ways in which we can do that."
