WSS: Lascorz moves ahead

Joan Lascorz and Kenan Sofuoglu are well positioned to stop Cal Crutchlow from making it a fifth World Supersport pole position on the trot after leading the way again during second free practice at Magny-Cours.

Having set the pace during the first session, Sofuoglu and Lascorz continued to dispute the top spot into FP2, with the Spaniard snatching the initiative from the Ten Kate Honda rider two minutes from the end.

Although currently embroiled in their own fight for third in the standings, the higher profile tussle for the title between Crutchlow and Eugene Laverty went in the favour of the Yamaha man, the Briton shrugging off a sore shoulder to be third fastest, while his rival could only manage eighth.

Another rider carrying an injury this weekend, Triumph's Garry McCoy ensured four different manufacturers fill the top four positions, the Australian ahead of local favourite Fabien Foret and outgoing champion Andrew Pitt.

Katsuaki Fujiwara backed Lascorz up in seventh position, ahead of Laverty and Matthieu Lagrive, the Frenchman suffering fall by remaining inside the top ten. Chaz Davies completed the leading positions in tenth.
