World Supersport title contenders Cal Crutchlow and Eugene Laverty will both head into next weekend's championship showdown with recent Portimao track time under their belts.

Crutchlow, who holds a 21 point lead over Laverty, took to the thrilling Portuguese track during a track day on Monday and Tuesday, riding alongside Yamaha team-mate Fabien Foret - and regular street riders!

The 'green' track conditions meant lap times were below normal race pace, but team boss Wilco Zeelenberg was happy with the preparatory work.

"Our tests went well, no crashes or problems and the guys have now had the chance to find a rhythm on the track, even if they could not push just because of the track conditions," Zeelenberg told the official WSBk website. "But the track is the same for everyone and now we are ready to go to Portimao and race."

Crutchlow aims to become Yamaha's first WSS champion since Jorg Teuchert in 2000.

Laverty and team-mate Miguel Praia will ride at Portimao during a private test on Wednesday and Thursday. The Parkalgar circuit is title sponsor for Laverty's Honda team.

Honda has been unbeaten in WSS since 2002, although all its previous titles were with Ten Kate.
