The Provec Kawasaki team continued to make its preparations for a tilt at the 2010 World Supersport Championship title with a test at Almeria in Spain.

With the manufacturer choosing to skip a collective WSBK/WSS test at Valencia earlier this month, Joan Lascorz and Katsuaki Fujiwara - both of whom have re-signed for 2010 - were on track to continue development of the improving ZX-6R.

Lascorz, who took Kawasaki to Supersport glory at Magny-Cours this year, was the faster of the two riders at 1min 37.45secs, almost four tenths quicker than his experienced team-mate.

"We tested some new things with the suspension and we continued working on our electronic systems. Had we experienced better weather then I think we could have gone faster still. Let's see if during the next test, on the 16 and 17 of January, we can have better weather and go quicker again."

Having struggled for form in recent years, multiple race winner Fujiwara nonetheless feels as though he is beginning to return to his best and is looking forward to putting it into practice come 2010.

"Step by step I'm getting better. We tested many things on the suspension and learned to work with the new people in the team who deal with suspension and telemetry. I'm happy and very excited to continue working at our next tests in January."
