Some pundits and observers have already instated him as the pre-season World Superbike Championship (WSBK) title favourite following the manner in which he concluded 2009, and if Max Biaggi insists he is underestimating nobody, he is equally 'convinced' that Aprilia has the tools to do the job this year.

Biaggi ended 2009 as inarguably one of the in-form riders in WSBK, with victory at Brno in the Czech Republic and four rostrum finishes from the closing three meetings to seal fourth spot in the final standings and prove that Aprilia's decision to rejoin the WSBK fray had been a wise one indeed. What's more, the Italian went on to pace the second post-season test at Valencia in Spain aboard his RSV4 - and now he hints that what has been seen so far is only the start.

"I am ready for the 2010 season which will be full of high expectations," wrote the former quadruple 250c World Champion and MotoGP and 500cc runner-up on his personal website. "You can be sure that Aprilia and I will be aiming to conduct a championship at the highest possible level. For sure I won't be underestimating anyone, but I am also convinced of our real potential.

"It will be a good season and I'm beginning the year with a good chance right from the start, seeing as we finished the second half of the 2009 season at the top. The last tests at Valencia told us that we are fast and have good race pace.

"At the end of January we'll be at Portim?o, and then we'll be in a position to understand what the coming season will be like seeing as all the official teams will be present. We'll have some new developments to test, and hopefully they will be a good step forward over 2009."

The three-day WSBK and World Supersport (WSS) Portuguese test in the Algarve will take place from 22-24 January.
