WSS: Gino Rea joins Supersport ranks

Gino Rea will join the World Supersport ranks in 2010 after signing to join the Intermoto Czech Honda team
Gino Rea will fly the British flag in the World Supersport Championship this season after agreeing to ride a Honda prepared by Intermoto Czech.

The 20-year-old won the 2009 European Superstock 600 Championship after prevailing in a dramatic title shootout in Portugal, Rea winning the crown for Ten Kate Honda Jnr by just a single point.

Since then, Rea has targeted a step up to the World Supersport Championship and tested the title-winning Yamaha R6 during post-season testing in Portugal.

However, following a recent test at Cartagena, Rea will stick with Honda machinery in 2010 after penning a deal with Intermoto to ride alongside experienced Italian racer Massimo Roccoli.

The deal was confirmed via the provisional entry list for the 2010 World Supersport season.

He is the second British rider to confirm his World Supersport involvement after Chaz Davies secured a full-time berth with the ParkinGO Triumph team.

Bit premature then Gino?! You must get fed up of the Johnny Rea thing....and the wrong pronunciation......they'll get the hang of it eventually! Hope it all works out!
