British Superbike rider Josh Brookes has been announced as Broc Parkes' replacement at Echo CRS Honda for the opening round of the 2010 World Superbike Championship in Australia.

The Italian team, which will make its World Superbike debut at Phllip Island next week, had been forced into finding a last minute substitute for Parkes after the former Kawasaki rider put himself out for six weeks with a broken tibia.

Nonetheless, Echo CRS will still make the curtain raiser after calling upon Brookes to deputise for his countryman.

Brookes has not raced in World Superbikes since he parted company with Alto Evolution Honda mid-way through the 2007 season, but having reverted to Supersport racing in 2008, the 26-year-old went a long way to re-establishing his Superbike reputation by finishing fourth overall in the 2009 British Superbike Championship.

Brookes' one-off outing with the privateer team will briefly see him revive his rivalry with former BSB adversaries Leon Camier and Sylvain Guintoli, who compete for Aprilia and Suzuki respectively this season.
