Kawasaki struck back at Honda during the second World Supersport test of the day at Phillip Island with Joan Lascorz out pacing Kenan Sofuoglu during the afternoon session.

The Spaniard was only seventh fastest in the morning, but after lapping more than a second faster during the afternoon session he lifted his Provec Kawasaki to the front at the expense of Sofuoglu.

Even so, with many riders failing to improve on their morning efforts, Sofuoglu's AM time was still enough to keep him on top at the end of the day as a whole.

The Turk, who was only marginally off his lap record earlier on in the day, was almost two tenths adrift of Lascorz on this occasion.

Katsuaki Fujiwara and Fabien Foret made it three ZX-6Rs inside the top five in third and fifth, the pair being split by Eugene Laverty. Michele Pirro was sixth best on the second Ten Kate Honda machine ahead of David Salom, who assumed status as Triumph's top rider for the first time this year.

Miguel Praia, Chaz Davies and Sebastien Charpentier completed the top ten, while reigning European Superstock 600 champion Gino Rea made progress to go 13th quickest.
