WSS: Lascorz closes on lap record

Joan Lascorz ups the pace to claim the quickest time of the World Supersport test so far around Phillip Island
Joan Lascorz got to within less than a tenth of setting a new World Supersport lap record around Phillip Island as he dominated proceedings during the third test session.

The Spaniard was half a second faster than his nearest competitor, his best lap of 1min 34.374secs getting close to the lap record of 1min 34.320secs.

In all, five riders dipped below 1min 35secs, with Lascorz being chased by Eugene Laverty on the Parkalgar Honda, Ten Kate Honda duo Michele Pirro and Kenan Sofuoglu, while his Provec Kawasaki team-mate Katsuaki Fujiwara remained in the mix too in fifth.

Elsewhere, Fabien Foret held on to sixth aboard the Lorenzini Kawasaki, while Supersport veterans Massimo Roccoli and Robbin Harms made substantial gains to set the seventh and eighth quickest times.

Once again, David Salom was Triumph's quickest representative, marginally ahead of team-mates Chaz Davies and Jason Di Salvo, while Gino Rea continued to improve in 14th position.
