Roland Resch will miss the remainder of the World Superbike Championship weekend at Phillip Island after a vicious accident during second qualifying left him with a broken collarbone.

The Austrian fell heavily during the latter stages of the session just moments after setting a lap time good enough to get him through to Superpole for the first time in his career.

However, a trip to the hospital would see him diagnosed with a broken collarbone, thus ruling out for the remainder of the weekend.

Resch, who last season raced a Suzuki under the TKR Switzerland banner, would have started 20th on his debut for Reitwagen BMW, but he is expected to be fit in time for the second round at Portimao in a month's time.
