Kenan Sofuoglu fought his way back to the top of the timesheets ahead of the deciding World Supersport qualifying session as times continued to tumble at Portimao.
With arch rival Eugene Laverty currently holding provisional pole position, Sofuoglu edged the Irishman by a tenth of a second during FP2 as he prepares to launch his bid for the top spot later today.
As expected, things remained close up front with Joan Lascorz and Michele Pirro both filtering in just a tenth behind in third and fourth, the pair holding a half second advantage over fifth place man Katsuaki Fujiwara.
Chaz Davies continued to lead the Triumph charge in sixth, albeit almost a second slower than Sofuoglu this time around, the Briton followed closely by team-mate Jason Di Salvo, who suffered a fall late on, and Daytona 675 debutant Matthieu Lagrive.
Miguel Praia and Robbin Harms completed the top ten on their Hondas, the latter another to recover from an off early on.
