A series of consistently fast laps saw Leon Haslam return to the top of the timesheets during morning warm-up ahead of today's second World Superbike Championship round of the season in Portugal.
The Suzuki Alstare rider, who will start fourth on the grid for the two races, set a best time that was less than a tenth slower than his qualifying effort to comfortably out pace pole sitter Cal Crutchlow by four tenths of a second.
Behind Crutchlow in third was Noriyuki Haga, the Japanese rider looking far more confident on the Ducati Xerox with a time some five tenths faster than he managed in Superpole.
Carlos Checa and Jonathan Rea rounded out the top five, ahead of British pair Leon Camier and Shane Byrne, while Sylvain Guintoli, Max Biaggi and James Toseland followed in eighth, ninth and tenth.
Elsewhere, Michel Fabrizio was only 15th fastest, while Max Neukirchner, who admitted after qualifying he has a deep wound in his arm, was 18th best.
