WSS: Sofuoglu tops warm-up, break lap record

Kenan Sofuoglu breaks the Portimao lap record ahead of today's second World Supersport Championship round in Portugal
Kenan Sofuoglu sent out a warning signal to his rivals during morning warm-up for the second round of the World Supersport Championship at Portimao, the Ten Kate Honda man going fastest and breaking the lap record.

The Turk, who will start second behind Eugene Laverty on the grid later today, was a mammoth seven tenths faster than his rivals during the 20 minute session, while his effort of 1min 44.683secs also dipped below Cal Crutchlow's standing record.

Sofuoglu's team-mate Michele Pirro was second fastest, ahead of pole man Laverty, while Fabien Foret continued his steady rise up the order this weekend to be fourth fastest on the Lorenzini Kawasaki.

Triumph's Chaz Davies maintained his presence towards the front of the field in fifth, ahead of Joan Lascorz and Katsuaki Fujiwara, while Miguel Praia, David Salom and Matthieu Lagrive rounded out the top ten.
