Haslam targets more wins

The championship leader increases his advantage to 16 points in Portugal, despite twice missing out on victory to Max Biaggi
Leon Haslam is confident he can maintain his superb start to the 2010 World Superbike Championship season by returning to winning ways again in Spain.

Haslam extended his lead at the top of the WSBK standings in Portugal with a pair of second place finishes, the Suzuki Alstare rider having now finished inside the top two in four consecutive races.

Consolidating his fine performance during the Phillip Island season opener a month ago, Haslam has seen his status transformed from title outsider to that of a genuine contender.

Even so, having now finished just three tenths from victory in each of the races he has finished second in, Haslam admits he wants to get back on top at Valencia.

“Of course, there are always some areas to improve and we'll be going to the next round in Valencia hoping to put one over Max and all the other riders. I've had one victory and now I want more!”

The Briton went on to praise the efforts of Suzuki over the winter period, the Japanese manufacturer turning its fortunes around following a troublesome 2009 season

“The first time I jumped on the Suzuki Alstare bike I thought it was a good package and all the good work the team has done has proved how good it is.”

Great start to the season Leon, just remember, although wins are nice, consistency will be the key to winning the c/ship. Good luck for the rest of the season.
