Katsuaki Fujiwara is in provisional pole position for the third round of the 2010 World Supersport Championship at Valencia after once again going comfortably faster than his Kawasaki team-mate
Having managed to get immediately up to speed during free practice, although Fujiwara's rate of lap time improvement was not quite as noticeable as his rivals, neither he nor Lascorz would be headed throughout the session.
Posting a best lap of 1min 36.319secs, Fujiwara was two tenths faster than Lascorz, who joined him on the provisional front row after a final effort lifted him from fourth position.
Equally late with their best efforts were Michele Pirro and Eugene Laverty, who moved up into third and fourth at the expense of local rider David Salom, who ran an impressive second on the Triumph for much of the session before slipping to fifth.
He is currently positioned alongside team-mate Chaz Davies and ahead of Kenan Sofuoglu
– 1.2secs off Fujiwara's pace – and Robbin Harms on his eponymous machine.
Elsewhere, Jason Di Salvo and Massimo Roccoli completed the top ten, while Briton Gino Rea finds himself down in 15th position after crashing during the session.
Should Fujiwara hold onto pole position in tomorrow's defining session, it will be his first since 2003.
