Reitwagen BMW will not be present for the fourth round of the World Superbike Championship at Assen after reportedly hitting financial problems.

The Austrian team made its WSBK debut this season and has shown modest form to belie its lack of pre-season testing, but three rounds in it has made the decision to skip Assen in a bid to secure its future.

The first satellite team to run BMWs in the series, Andrew Pitt has scored three 15th place finishes in six races, but the bikes have not run with any prominent sponsorship.

With Reitwagen out and Squadra Corse Honda's Vittorio Iannuzzo withdrawing through injury, the WSBK grid is down to just 22 riders this weekend.
