Kenan Sofuoglu gave Ten Kate Honda something more to smile about as he followed in his Superbike counterpart Jonathan Rea's wheeltracks during first free Supersport practice at Assen.
A dominant performance by the Dutch team, competing on home ground this weekend, Sofuoglu and Michele Pirro held the top two positions for almost the session's entirety, with the Turk going fastest courtesy of a 1min 38.781secs.
Six tenths faster than his Italian team-mate, he in turn held a tenth advantage over third place Honda rival Eugene Laverty, last year's winner at Assen.
Valencia winner and new championship leader Joan Lascorz was fourth fastest, marginally ahead of fellow Kawasaki rider Fabien Foret, while David Salom was the fastest of the Triumph men in sixth.
Further back, Gino Rea was an encouraging tenth quickest on the Intermoto Honda, while at the back of the field, former grand prix rider Imre Toth has entered into the event riding a privateer Honda.
