WSS: Sofugolu fastest in Q1

The former champion commands a three tenths advantage over his rivals after provisional qualifying in the Netherlands
Kenan Sofuoglu maintained his place at the top of the World Supersport timesheets during provisional qualifying for the fourth round of the season at Assen.

The Turk was in charge throughout the session, improving his best lap on five occasions to put a good three tenths between himself and Michele Pirro.

Completing a Ten Kate Honda 1-2, Pirro recovered from a fall to secure a place alongside his team-mate at the front, ahead of Fabien Foret, the Frenchman doing a fine job on the privateer Lorenzini Kawasaki to go third fastest.

Of Sofuoglu's nearest title rivals, Eugene Laverty completed the provisional front row in fourth, but championship leader Joan Lascorz could only manage the eighth fastest time.

Between them, David Salom was fifth for Triumph, marginally ahead of team-mate Matthieu Lagrive, the Frenchman putting in his best performance for the BE1 team since joining.

Katsuaki Fujiwara got the better of Lascorz in seventh too, while British pairing Chaz Davies and Gino Rea completed the top ten positions.
