WSS: Sofuoglu quickest again

The Turk firmly establishes himself as the rider to beat this weekend by opening out a half second advantage over his rivals in FP2
Kenan Sofuoglu has continued to stamp his authority on the latest round of the World Supersport Championship at Assen by leading the way in second free practice.

The Turk, who holds provisional pole position heading into the deciding session later today, lowered his best lap once more with a 1min 38.217 to be half a second faster than Honda counterpart Eugene Laverty.

Sofuoglu's Ten Kate Honda team-mate Michele Pirro was once more towards the front of the field in third, while Fabien Foret continued to lead Kawasaki's charge in fourth position, well up on factory riders Katsuaki Fujiwara and Joan Lascorz, seventh and 13th respectively.

Chaz Davies moved to the front of Triumph pack in fifth, closely followed by team-mates Matthieu Lagrive in sixth and David Salom in ninth, although the Spaniard did lose time with an off.

Fresh from his career-best result at Valencia, Gino Rea continued his Supersport progress with a decent run to eighth fastest, well ahead of Intermoto Honda team-mate Massimo Roccoli. Robbin Harms rounded out the top ten on the Harms Benjan Honda.
