Daisaku Sakai has been announced as Yoshimura Suzuki's entry for this weekend's World Superbike Championship round at Monza following an injury for Yukio Kagayama.

Former WSBK race winner Kagayama was due to make a long-awaited appearance for wild-card entrants Yoshimura at Monza, but has been sidelined after a recent high-speed accident in the British championship at Oulton Park left him with a damaged vertebrae.

As such, Sakai, a front runner in the All-Japan Superbike Championship, will get an additional outing on the GSX-R1000, the Japanese rider having originally been expected to compete only in the Imola event later in the year.
