The World Superbike grid will be reduced to just 22 riders once more after Squadra Corse Italia took the decision not to travel to Kyalami for the sixth round of the series.
It is the second time the Italian team has been absent this season after rider Vittorio Iannuzzo was forced to skip Assen through an injury sustained in a crash at Valencia.
They join DFX Ducati in deciding not to make the trip to South Africa which, coupled to Yoshimura Suzuki's decision not to include Kyalami in its limited programme, means three bikes from Monza will not be present this weekend.
Fortunately, wild-card Sheridan Morais, who will race a factory Aprilia RSV-4 under the EmTek Racing banner, bolsters grid numbers slightly to 22, although it is likely to come down again for the second flyaway race in the USA in two weeks time.
Currently, there is also no sign of a return for Reitwagen BMW, or the anticipated debut of Pro Ride Honda.
