Althea Racing team manager Genesio Bevilacqua believes his team has a good chance of challenging for victory during the latest round of the World Superbike Championship at Miller Motorsports Park.

Having led the Ducati charge from the start of the season with Carlos Checa, the privateer Althea team has proven its victory at Phillip Island was by no means a fluke, the Spaniard adding two more podiums to his tally since then to currently sit fourth in the overall standings.

Furthermore, Althea head into this weekend's event with the added bonus of having had 3kg trimmed from its bike as a consequence of revised weight regulations for twin-cylinder machinery.

Coupled to Checa's previous success around the Utah circuit, which includes two wins and a second place finish in four starts, and Bevilacqua is confident the ingredients are in place to challenge at the front.

"Morale is high as we arrive in Salt Lake City," he said. "In Kyalami, at the end of a race to remember, we achieved a great second place with Carlos. The team is determined and everything is working perfectly in the garage.
