Having taken the lead of the World Superbike Championship for the first time in the United States, Max Biaggi stretched his advantage once again with a double triumph at Misano.

Four wins in a row have seen Biaggi leapfrog Leon Haslam and put considerable air between himself and the Suzuki rider, the gap now standing at 37 points heading to Brno - scene of Biaggi and Aprilia's first win twelve months ago...

After missing out on a perfect points' haul at Miller Motorsports Park, two top five finishes for Carlos Checa pushes him back up to third place, ahead of Jonathan Rea, who couldn't get into the top ten at the circuit he was victorious last year.

While he wasn't able to turn BMW's first pole position into a first win, Troy Corser - who has scored in every race this season - creeps up to a new high of sixth in the overall standings and is just two points short of getting ahead of Noriyuki Haga. Haga's team-mate, Michel Fabrizio, was another big mover, going from tenth to eighth, pushing Leon Camier and Cal Crutchlow down a spot.

Outside the top ten, Sylvain Guintoli moved back into contention with two good finishes, while Luca Scassa is now level-best with Ruben Xaus on his privateer Ducati.

After a historic day that saw three different European manufacturers on the podium for the first time, Aprilia have pulled further away in front, while Yamaha have moved ahead of Honda in the battle for fourth. BMW are also closing on Honda, just 17 points behind.
