Joan Lascorz has taken his second World Supersport pole position of the season as he led a Kawasaki 1-2 at Brno.

Although he has finished no lower than fifth so far this season, Lascorz has only started from the front on one occasion - at the Phillip Island season opener.

However, the Spaniard would deny team-mate Katsuaki Fujiwara his first Supersport pole position in seven years with a late effort that was just 0.017secs faster than the Japanese rider.

Fujiwara's recorded time of 2mins 02.817secs had come during the provisional Q1 session, the veteran looking all set to cling onto pole position before his younger team-mate swooped in, although second does still signify one of his best starting positions in some time.

Championship leader Eugene Laverty will start in third position as he nestled his Parkalgar Honda on the front row between the factory Kawasakis and the privateer Lorenzini ZX-6R of Fabien Foret.

Laverty's closest rival Kenan Sofuoglu qualified fifth, marginally ahead of team-mate Michele Pirro, while Gino Rea carried is good form from Misano to go seventh, the young Briton unlucky to drop down having run as high as second with only 15 minutes to go.

Chaz Davies joins his fellow Briton on the second row, ahead of Robbin Harms and Miguel Praia.
