Scassa ruled out by practice crash

Luca Scassa avoids injuring his broken foot further in an accident at Silverstone, but took the decision not to race.
Luca Scassa has set his sights on getting fit for the next World Superbike race in Germany after a crash during free practice at Silverstone forced him to withdraw.

Scassa arrived at Silverstone already nursing a foot injury sustained in an accident at Brno, but shrugged that off in provisional qualifying as he challenged for a spot inside the top ten.

However, a crash at Stowe during the practice session leading up to Superpole left him in pain and his Supersonic Ducati badly damaged.

Although he has not further aggravated the foot injury, Scassa took the decision not to risk another accident in favour of focusing on getting fit for the Nurburgring in a month's time.

"With big disappointment I had to give up the race. I can not walk and I have extreme pain in both feet, so I cannot ride in these conditions. The final decision was been taken after a meeting with the team to whom I own a deep debt of gratitude. I hope to recover into the best shape during our August break.”

Shame! Scassa is showing great potential this year. I think 2011 will be a good year for him and im confident he will impress. I wouldnt be suprised to see him in the top 8 regulary next year, if not better! not sure on his contract with supersonic ducati, but id like to see him on a bike with a bit more potential.
