Morias heads to Superstock in 2011

South African Sheridan Morais, who has made occasional WSBK and WSS appearances over the past two seasons, will make a full-time return to the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup in 2011.

Morais rode the full STK 1000 season in 2006 (Suzuki) and 2007 (Ducati), finishing 14th and 13th respectively. He then returned to claim a podium finish with second place in the 2008 Brands Hatch STK round.

During his eight wild-card WSBK rides for Kawasaki, Aprilia and Honda, Morais has taken a best race finish of eleventh (and top Kawasaki) at his home Kyalami round last year. His one WSS start, at Brno 2009, brought a competitive sixth place on a Yamaha R6.

Morais has now signed to ride a Lorenzini by Leoni Kawasaki in 2011.

"We've had an eye on this talented youngster for some time now and we are delighted to have him under contract in 2011," the official WSBK website quotes team principal Vanni Lorenzini as saying.

"With the new ZX-10R and the South African rider we can for sure play a major role in the championship and aim for the title.

"I'd like to thank all those who have confirmed their support in us, our desire to continue and progress remains the same and with this new project we are sure we can live up to everybody's expectations."

Morais will have a to-be-announced team-mate.

Come on guys! Give this guy a break! This guy is a down-right hard working racer! He'll ride anything you throw at him and doesn't complain much. He seems to simply enjoy racing! Outside of Jamie Hacking and Jordan Szoke, Sheridan is one of the only 3 riders in the world to help Kawasaki shine in the last 5 years! Part of me thinks he should have gotten an even better ride but, this will have to do for now I suppose. At the end of the day, this guy gives 100% and enjoys being out there and that says alot about him. Of course the sponsors want victories and I think Sheridan is a guy who can get them there with the right support.
