Corser re-signs with BMW for 2011

BMW retains one-half of its rider line-up for 2011 with the confirmation that Troy Corser will continue into next season.
Another piece of the 2011 World Superbike jigsaw has fallen into place after BMW confirmed Troy Corser will continue with the manufacturer next season.

Although it was widely anticipated, only now has BMW officially announced that Corser will enter into his third season with the German company, which made its World Superbike debut in 2009.

Corser's input has been crucial to transforming BMW into front runners this season, the Australian scoring the team's maiden podium at Monza and pole position at Misano, while he has also led a number of races.

With this in mind, Corser says it was an 'easy decision' to continue with the team as he now bids to spearhead a World Superbike title charge.

“It was an easy decision for me to continue with a team where I feel at home. We're really building something here and I've very much enjoyed being part of this project from the beginning.”

“I think we've already achieved a great deal together and believe that, with our commitment and resources, we can climb further up the field over the course of the season ahead.”

Having signed the former world champion to take charge of development aboard the S1000RR, BMW Motorsport director Berthold Hauser is confident Corser is the man to 'achieve its ambitions' in 2011.

“We're very pleased that Troy Corser will continue to be part of our set-up. Troy has played a major role in getting our team to where it is today. He's been on board from day one and his many years of experience in the Superbike World Championship have allowed him to carry out valuable work for us.

“Our task now is to build on this platform. We're in no doubt that we can achieve our ambitious aims together with Troy. We'll announce the identity of our second rider in due course.”

While Corser's position in the team was rarely in doubt, the identity of the second rider remains speculation. Marco Melandri was originally rumoured before landing at Yamaha, but James Toseland, Leon Haslam and Michel Fabrizio have also been linked in recent weeks.

I think that Ayrton Badovini should get a ride because he's made everyone look like fools in STK this year. JT would maybe do ok on a beamer but nothing special and I don't care what Leon Haslam does just as long as he stays up the front next season. Xaus can get to f**k
