British Supersport Champion Sam Lowes will graduate to the World Supersport Championship in 2011 after penning a deal with title contenders Parkalgar Honda.
The 20-year-old sealed the British title for GNS Honda with one round remaining at Silverstone last weekend and has been rewarded for his efforts with a chance to replace World Superbike-bound Eugene Laverty at Parkalgar Honda.
It is an opportunity Lowes is eager to make the most of, the youngster targeting race wins and maybe the title in his first season.
“It is a dream come true for me that I will be riding for Parkalgar Honda in the 2011 World Supersport Championship," he said. "This is one of the best teams in the world and is right at the front of the races week in and out.
“I am under no illusions how difficult the step will be but with Parkalgar Honda I have a team that knows what to do and how to win. I can't wait to get racing with the team and fitted to the bike.
"Thank you to Parkalgar Honda for having the faith in me, I will do all I can to repay that with race wins and a Championship challenge.”
It won't be the first time Lowes has competed at World Supersport level having taken in selected rounds of the 2009 series with Echo CRS Honda, while he also scored a top ten finish for the GNS team as a wild-card at Silverstone back in August.
Lowes will be joined in the team by the already-confirmed Miguel Praia.
