PICS: Magny-Cours test – Day 1

BMW, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki and PATA Aprilia make it out on track as a damp Magny-Cours.
After a false start due to rainy conditions, the post-season World Superbike test finally got underway at Magny-Cours this afternoon with a number of riders getting trial runs on new bikes.

Though not as heavily populated as previous years – not least with Ducati Xerox being absent -, there were a few notable appearances out on track once the surface had dried out.

Leading the way was Leon Haslam and Troy Corser on the early interpretation of the 2011 BMW S1000RR, while Kawasaki was on track with its new ZX-10R as ridden by Sheridan Morais. The South African will ride a ZX-10R in the Superstock series next season.

Ducati exiles Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio also spent their day getting acclimatised to their new Aprilia and Suzuki machines, while Eugene Laverty sampled a Superbike for the first time as he introduced himself to Yamaha.

As ever, our snappers were there to catch the latest action, so for the full gallery from today's action, just scroll down and take a look.

MCN reporting today that JT has signed for an all new factory supported BMW team run by the ex Xerox Ducati team boss taking much of their existing infrastructure and staff with them. Also states there is a chance of JT riding today if an ex Corser 2010 bike can be made available. Good news in my opinion.
