BMW confirms team structure for 2011

BMW's 'behind-the-scenes' team is confirmed for the 2011 World Superbike Championship season following Davide Tardozzi's decision to leave.
BMW Motorrad Motorsport has completed its restructure in the wake of Davide Tardozzi's departure, with several key positions in the team being assumed.

With Bernhard Gobmeier already confirmed as taking on the role of Motorsport Director, Rainer Baumel – formerly the team's technical director – will assume the post of Head of Race Operations, while Stephan Fischer is the new Head of Development.

The moves come following Tardozzi's departure from the manufacturer after less than a year at the helm, while Berthold Hauser also left his post of Motorsport Director.

The changes come into effect in time for official pre-season testing to get underway, though BMW – with riders Leon Haslam and Troy Corser - look set to miss the first group test at Portimao in favour of three days at Eastern Creek in Australia.

From here, the manufacturer will travel to Phillip Island to measure themselves against their rivals before opening the season at the same venue shortly afterwards towards the end of February.
