WSS: Lowes talks MotoGP ambitions

"Cal Crutchlow's progression and determination is a shining example for Sam Lowes to follow" - Simon Buckmaster.
Reigning British Supersport champion and 2011 World Supersport rookie Sam Lowes has been advised to follow in the footsteps of Cal Crutchlow in order to achieve his own MotoGP dream.

"As a rider, you've got to believe you can get there [MotoGP] - it's every rider's dream and I'll do everything I can to do it," Lowes told thisislinconshire.co.uk.

"If you're good enough you can make it, you've just got to work hard towards it. It doesn't matter what nationality you are."

20-year-old Lowes will partner fellow Briton (and former MotoGP rider) James Ellison, plus Portuguese rider Miguel Praia, at the Parkalgar Honda WSS team next season.

The Parkalgar outfit is run by Simon Buckmaster, who previously worked with the UK's newest MotoGP rider Crutchlow, who joins the premier-class grid in 2011.

Buckmaster says Lowes should view Crutchlow's progression as the perfect template for his own career.

"[Crutchlow's] been a British Supersport champion, he's been in a winner in British Superbikes and he's won the World Supersport Championship. He's also won in World Superbikes and has now gone up to MotoGP,” said Buckmaster. "Cal's progression and determination is a shining example for Sam Lowes to follow.”

Buckmaster also believes another former rider could be on the MotoGP grid in the near future in the form of Eugene Laverty. Laverty finished second in last year's WSS Championship with Parkalgar and will graduate to Yamaha's factory WSBK team in 2011.

"If Eugene has a good year, there's every chance he could get a MotoGP ride soon,” said Buckmaster.

how i love the british public. Full of armchair experts. Watch sam next year. He'll be fast. Given that we've just gone 1year without a brit in moto gp it would be nice to see a few more people get behind cal rather than knocking him.
