Liberty Ducati ready for test debut

Sylvain Guintoli undergoes surgery to remove a pin from his knee, as Liberty Ducati get ready to make its test debut.
Liberty Racing will take its first competitive steps into the World Superbike Championship next week as it gears up to make its test debut at Guadix with Sylvan Guintoli and Jakub Smrz.

The all-new Czech operation will be the only two-man Ducati team in 2011 following the withdrawal of manufacturer support, with riders Guintoli and Smrz set to ride a hybrid of a 2010-specification base with 2011 parts.

Having unveiled the team and livery – which the team has since revealed wasn't the finished version - at a recent launch in Prague, the team will travel to Spain to give the 1198 F10 its first outing on 11th January.

The bikes will be ridden by Smrz, who returns to the Ducati stable after a short period on the Aprilia, and Guintoli, who will be present despite undergoing a minor surgery to have a pin removed from his knee, a legacy of the accident back in May 2009 when he suffered a broken leg at Donington Park.

Liberty Ducati will then be amongst those taking part in the first official pre-season test at Portimao on January 26th, with additional outings planned at Motorland Aragon a week later and then again at Phillip Island prior to the opening round of the 2011 season.
