Noriyuki Haga says he is 'convinced' he is on the right track to challenge for strong results aboard the PATA Aprilia straight away, despite failing to get though a full testing programme at Portimao.

Fresh from the official launch of the PATA Racing team, which has been made up of the amalgamated BRC Racing and DFX Corse outfits, Haga took to track on the RSV-4 to get a better understanding of the bike.

However, having set the 12th quickest time at the end of day one, Haga's plans to continue working on solutions were hampered by rain over the next two days.

Nonetheless, despite admitting there was still plenty to work on, Haga believes he and the team are heading in the right direction to meet their high 2011 targets.

"We planned the work over the three days, but unfortunately we could only go through it partially. We would have liked to try more solutions, but the conditions of the track let us do so just on the first day.

"Although the conditions were bad, this test was useful to find the feeling with the team, too. I'm convinced to be on the right way to start the season with what it takes to reach important results."
