Camier optimistic about 2011 chances

The Aprilia Alitalia rider has his eyes on a maiden World Superbike race win as he prepares for his second season in the series.
Leon Camier is confident he can get his second season in the World Superbike Championship off to a good start as he looks to build on a promising maiden campaign.

The former British Superbike champion remains with champions Aprilia Alitalia for another year after flashes of speed in 2010 culminated in three podium finishes.

Though his build up to the 2011 opening round at Phillip Island has been hampered by poor weather in Portugal and ill health in Australia, he is positive he can strive for good results from the off this weekend.

“Last year was very important for me. New bike, new championship… every race was like the first time for me. Now I think I'm ready to show my real potential, for sure. The pre-season tests have been very positive; the feeling with the bike is getting better and better so I'm very confident about this season.”

Touching on the strengths of the Aprilia RSV-4, while Camier jokes he is somewhat over-sized for the compact bike, he is now feeling comfortable aboard the machine.

“It's a good bike; very fast on the straight but with a good handling too. Now I know how to take the maximum from this bike, the feeling is improving and I worked hard with my team preparing for this season.

“It's also a small bike, last year we've been struggling to find the best position because I'm taller than the “typical bike rider”, now we've reached a good compromise and I feel better on the RSV4. I'm starting to fall in love with her, and that's good!”

Leon has the talent to win wsb, but needs the same spec bike as max not like last year. But as he has Glandular fever i dont think he should race this weekend , he was being sick in his halmet in testing, NOT GOOD !! So give him a few meetings then you'll see !!! As for his brother Alex , Lack of money stopped him racing motor bikes but he is now a professional cyclist with a Spanish Team.
