Riders, teams and fans anticipating poor weather at this weekend's Donington Park round of the World Superbike Championship can expect cold – but dry – conditions, according to early forecasts.
Though the return of Donington Park to the calendar has been roundly welcomed, many have questioned the decision to schedule it in March, when the weather is notoriously inclement and cooler than the norm.
A glance at five-day forecasts using the BBC
weather service, which take into account Friday, Saturday and Sunday, suggest rain – which was very present during the summer-scheduled 2008 race – will only be apparent on the Saturday, though even this will be intermittent light showers.
Indeed, race day is currently shown as unbroken sunshine, though temperatures over the day will average out at a paltry nine degrees Celsius. Friday and Saturday will be similarly cool at 12 and eight degrees Celsius respectively.
The five-day forecast has been determined using the neighbouring East Midlands Airport as the 'weather location'.
