Biaggi to take on British allcomers at Donington

The Italian began the defence of his WSBK crown with a pair of second place finishes at Phillip Island.
Max Biaggi says he is prepared to take on the threat posed by the local World Superbike Championship contingent at Donington Park as he bids to build on a strong start to his title defence.

Biaggi exceeded his own expectations to take a pair of second place finishes at Phillip Island, form he is eager to continue at Donington Park, a circuit he has enjoyed success on in the past.

A podium winner two years ago, though Biaggi is sure the local quintet will be amongst the favourites this weekend, the Aprilia Alitalia rider is confident he has the pace to keep them at bay.

"Donington Park is a track that I like very much. I've always been able to achieve good results there and even riding the RSV4 for the first time in 2009 I took a spot on the podium. This is a good time for us; we have just come from a difficult track like Phillip Island with the certainty that we are still competitive.

“On this track we must not underestimate the thick patrol of English riders who always find some special motivation when they are playing on their home turf. In any case, we're ready to take on their attacks along with the uncertain weather factor which could also shuffle the cards on the table. I feel fit and I'm ready to battle.”
