Rolfo takes Italian championship win

"I didn't come to Misano just to make up the numbers" - Roberto Rolfo.
Roberto Rolfo and Pedercini Kawasaki will head to this weekend's Asseb World Superbike round on a high after victory in the opening round of the Italian Superbike Championship at Misano.

The win was Rolfo's first since last year's Malaysian Moto2 Grand Prix at Sepang.

"I'm really happy because the work we did over the last couple of days on our Kawasaki has produced the right results," said Rolfo.

"Together with the Andreani technicians we also improved the set-up of the bike, making a clear step forward from the two Donington WSBK races with the feeling.

"I didn't come to Misano just to make up the numbers, and I was aiming to score a great result. I'm satisfied with the win because it's my first with the Pedercini team and with the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R."

Rolfo has scored points in all four 2011 WSBK races, with a best of eleventh in race one at Phillip Island.

What a mental career Roby has had, almost won a 250cc championship (outfighting De Puniet, Elias etc. at the time) - spend most of the last 5 years being utterly anonymous, then firing in a Moto2 win out of nowhere.
