Jonathan Rea is bidding to get his 2011 World Superbike title offensive underway with another strong performance at Assen, scene of his superb double victory for Honda last season.
The Northern Irishman has endured a steady start to the 2011 season having been blighted by injury woes at Phillip Island and set-up problems at Donington Park thus far.
Nonetheless, he is feeling positive about his chances aboard the Castrol Honda at Assen after scoring a hard-fought maiden 'WSBK double' last season at Ten Kate Racing's home venue.
Though he accepts there will be some 'pressure' to repeat his feat, he is confident the Honda CBR1000RR will be a reckoned force once more.
I'm really excited to be heading back to Assen this weekend as I have a lot of good memories from there. At the weekend, we'll obviously be looking to capitalise at the team's home circuit where we tested a lot last year and where we know the Honda Fireblade works really well.
“After the unforgettable weekend we had last year, there's obviously a bit of pressure, but we'll just work steadily over Friday and Saturday to put ourselves in a good position for Sunday and try to get our season started properly.”
