Max Biaggi has vowed to make up for lost ground during the third round of the 2011 World Superbike Championship at Assen having failed to win during the opening four races.

The reigning champion endured a fraught Donington Park weekend - both on and off the track -, dropping him down to fourth in the standings and 42 points adrift of series leader Carlos Checa.

Nonetheless, Aprilia Alitalia rider Biaggi insists he is determined to get back to winning ways at Assen, a circuit he enjoys, but one he didn't enjoy his best results last season.

"Last year we had a few problems here, mostly during Superpole, although I must say that I like this track. Compared to last season I expect to be more competitive right from the start. It will be important to work well during practice in order to be as prepared as possible for the two races on Sunday.

"Especially if it rains, it is vital that we start out front. We lost a few points in the first two races, so here at Assen we need to aim for the best possible results. I'm starting off motivated, with a great desire to get back on the bike and experience the weekend at Assen to its fullest."

Biaggi, who was disqualified from race two at Donington Park for failing to heed a drive-through penalty, finished sixth and fourth during the two races in the Netherlands last year.
