Checa out to finish what he started

The Spaniard uttlerly dominated the American event last season, but was denied victory in both races by the same throttle-related issue.
Carlos Checa heads into the fifth round of the 2011 World Superbike Championship at Miller Motorsports Park eager to 'finish what he started' last season when he was cruelly denied a double victory.

The Spaniard has established himself as something of a 'Miller master' in the three seasons the American circuit has been included on the WSBK calendar, winning both races in 2008 for Ten Kate Honda, while mechanical problems forced him out of winning positions in each race last season.

With this in mind, championship leaders Checa and his Althea Ducati team are expected to be the combination to beat at MMP again this year, the former MotoGP rider eager to extend his 27 point advantage having lost some ground last time out at Monza.

“Miller is a track that suits me very well; it is perhaps the best track for me and my riding style. I'd say that, seeing how both I and my bike are performing right now, that we will be able to adapt well to the track this year.

“We'll see which tyres are made available and work to find the best combination – I'm feeling confident. We have to finish what we were unable to finish last year.”

Hopefully your team will cross all the t's and dot all the i's to make sure your bike survives the race. Cruelly denied is an understatement in my opinion. I think Checa will go unmolested at Miller and take the double. Good luck Carlos!
