Rain scuppers Lascorz, Toseland Superpole hopes

Wet conditions keep lap times high, preventing those positioned between 17th and 21st during Q1, such as Lascorz and Toseland, from progressing to Superpole.
Joan Lascorz and James Toseland will not progress to Superpole at Miller Motorsports Park after rain washed away any attempts to improve their Q1 lap times.

With only sixteen riders progressing to the grid-deciding session, Lascorz and Toseland found themselves in the wrong position as rain prevented any rider from getting close to their personal best time during Q2.

The result is a particular disappointment for Kawasaki's Lascorz, who missed the top sixteen cut in Q1 by just 36 hundredths of a second. On the flip side, 16th place Leon Haslam will be breathing a sigh of relief.

The session itself was topped by Aprilia's Leon Camier, the Briton circulating with a best of 2mins 04.901secs, some 16 seconds down on his Q1 effort, while Jakub Smrz, Haslam and weekend pace setter Carlos Checa were second, third and fourth best respectively.

Sylvain Guintoli backed up his Effenbert Liberty Ducati team-mate in fifth, ahead of Max Biaggi, Tom Sykes, Ayrton Badovini, Jonathan Rea and Noriyuki Haga, though the top ten was split by five and a half seconds as some pushed harder than others in the rain.

Yamaha's Marco Melandri was the only rider to fall in the difficult conditions, but he got back to set the 13th best lap.

Joining Lascorz and Toseland in the lower reaches of the field will be Mark Aitchison in 19th, Maxime Berger in 20th and Roberto Rolfo in 21st.

Ah well, these things happen. No oneis expecting JT to do anything spectacular this weekend, so he should just use this as a gauge to see if he is actually race fit. he will be giving it 110 per cent as usual though im sure. What happening with Haslam? Maybe he is injured more than people first thought after his crash at Monza?
