Marco Melandri says tyres will play a part in deciding the outcome of the two World Superbike race at Brno, though he feels confident of a good performance from second.
A fourth consecutive front row start for the former MotoGP rider, Melandri had hoped to take the fight to Max Biaggi as he did at Motorland Aragon, but he would feel three tenths shy of the top spot.
Nonetheless, Melandri was pleased with the strides made by the Yamaha team over the course of the weekend, even if believes the circuit will take its toll on tyres come the races.
“Brno has also been a good track for me in the past, and since Friday morning we've done a good job with the Yamaha, the bike's been working well step by step. A second place for sure is a very good position. It's going to be very tough for the tyres tomorrow, but very interesting and I'm happy with today.”
