Camier targets Silverstone podium repeat

The Aprilia Alitalia rider also finished third at Donington Park earlier this year after a race-long battle with Marco Melandri.
Leon Camier is targeting another strong result on home soil at Silverstone as he looks to add to the podium success he achieved at the circuit last year and also at Donington Park this season.

The former British Superbike Champion has produced some inspired performances on familiar territory since making his world series debut in 2009 aboard the Airwaves Yamaha, though his run from 16th to third at Silverstone last season was a particular highlight.

Coupled to his third place finish at Donington Park earlier this year, Camier is confident that a good qualifying performance will mean he doesn't have to work quite so hard this year.

“I'm really looking forward to getting out there and seeing all the new additions. The Silverstone Wing pit and paddock complex looks awesome”, the Aprilia Alitalia rider said.

“Silverstone has always been one of my favourite circuits as it's fast and flowing, and has plenty of overtaking opportunities, which no doubt I'll need with my track record! I've had my fair share of races where I've had to fight my way through the field, probably one of the most memorable being at Silverstone last year.

“Going from 16th to stand on an all-British podium was something I'll never forget - the crowd was amazing and the support I had was unreal. I'm hoping we'll be able to put on another good show for the fans!”

Camier is currently sixth in the World Superbike standings with three podium finishes and a best result of second at Miller Motorsports Park.

Leon needs to start coming up with better results if he is to keep his ride, he needs to be closer to the speedy ancient poison dwarf on the other side of the garage
