Leon Haslam returns to home soil for the ninth round of the 2011 World Superbike Championship at Silverstone bidding to get back to podium-winning ways following a run of consistent, if somewhat disappointing, form.

The Briton has not stood on the podium since finishing third at Monza back in May, while the results of the factory BMW team have been called into question by the rise of satellite operative BMW Italia which, in the hands of Ayrton Badovini, has regularly out-scored its better-funded counterparts in recent races.

Despite this, Haslam did advance one spot in the overall standings last time out at Brno, the 2010 runner-up holding down fifth position heading to Silverstone.

Keen to repeat the podium he achieved on a Suzuki at Silverstone last season, Haslam is also hoping a recent test at the Lausitzring in Germany alongside BMW test rider Steve Martin will point the team in the right direction.

"Silverstone is always a special race for me, as we are racing in England. I am looking forward to going back there. Last year it was a new track for everyone. I really enjoy the characteristics of the new layout. It is a fast, flowing circuit, a bit like a mix of Monza and Assen. In some sectors the set-up of the motorcycle is a major factor.

"In addition, thrilling racing is always guaranteed at Silverstone. Taking the BMW S 1000 RR there will be exciting - especially as we are racing in front of my home crowd. I hope we will get some good weather and can't wait to go there."
