Rea prepares for WSBK comeback

The Northern Irishman is keen to turn Honda's flagging fortunes around having not competed for almost three months.
Jonathan Rea says he cannot wait to return to World Superbike action at the Nurburgring having been forced to skip the last four events through injury.

The Castrol Honda rider has spent almost three months on the sidelines after a high-speed accident at Misano left him with an injured wrist, but while he was forced to miss his home event at Silverstone, he insists he is now fully focused on the concluding four rounds of the season.

Rea returns to action having slipped to 12th in the standings, while his Honda employers currently find themselves propping up the manufacturer standings having scored just two points in the last six races.

With this in mind, Rea – who scored a victory at the Nurburgring in 2010 - is keen to get back to the form that had him winning at Assen back in April.

“I can't wait to get back on the bike in a race weekend situation at Nurburgring. The test at Assen last week was great for me to ride and work with the team again, but I'm really looking forward to doing it for real again this weekend. Assen was also good from a confidence point of view, because the lap time was pretty good and I was able to complete a lot of laps without any pain from the wrist.

“Unfortunately, I've missed a few races because of the injury, but I've got a new target for the end of the season and I know what I need to do to achieve that. The good thing is that the guys have been working really hard back at base since I've been away, and there were some good new things to test last week. I'm really looking forward to using them this weekend.
