Race-winning World Superbike rookie Marco Melandri set the pace for the soon-to-be-disbanded factory Yamaha team, during day one of testing at Misano on Tuesday.

The Italian, whose 2012 plans are yet to be confirmed, was the fastest of the 13 WSBK riders present with a best lap time of 1min 36.0sec.

That is 0.344sec under the official race lap record set by Max Biaggi (Aprilia) in this year's restarted second race.
