Leon Haslam says he can concentrate on getting good results over the final three rounds of the 2011 World Superbike Championship season safe in the knowledge that he is one of the few riders with a contract for 2012.
During the break between races, BMW confirmed it has re-signed Haslam for another season, marking the first time the Briton will enter into a second-year deal with a WSBK team.
With his immediate future secure, Haslam is now turning his attentions to the final three events at Imola, Magny-Cours and Portimao, where he will look to build on the promise of his performance at the Nurburgring.
Indeed, despite offs in both races, Haslam still recorded some of his best finishes of the year in Germany, something he is keen to replicate in Italy.
“I am really excited that we can continue working together next season and am very happy that I can have one more year with BMW Motorrad,” he said. “With the changes we made this year, along with the changes we are making for next year, we are really excited about next season. For now, however, we focus on the last three rounds of this year.
“I am looking forward to Imola. We have made good progress with the bike and it is one of my favourite circuits. I really enjoy racing there and the atmosphere is always fantastic. The track is very bumpy and very undulating. You really need to have your bike set up properly, as the circuit is very demanding with different tarmac in places and a lot of changes of direction.”
